NOTTS STILL OPENING THEIR XMAS PRESENTS
Notts turn up in Mansfield on time apart from the usual
guys like Dickinson, Dyce & Hall.
The atmosphere in the changing room was happy and the manager
was happy. Colin started the New Year with another one of
his saying ' Look lads if we have got any chance of
winning this league we need to win team like them'
Notts agreed.
The game plan was set we needed to keep up the form we
had just before Christmas and to win Old E's.
The Game kickoff Dicko looked lively in the first few
seconds and within ten seconds Notts had a throwing on the
halfway line.
Dicko took it quick because Willow was asking for it, Willow
got tackled and Old E's winger gallop forward with
the ball flying pass Jay and Mitch like they was even there
and cross the ball. David missed handled the ball and the
ball hit the post fell straight for an Old E's striker
one nil Old E's, Old E's fans went crazy and only
45 seconds on the clock.
Old E's had a couple of more chances as Notts defence
just could not handle the two striker and the midfield that
kept pressing on. One, which included a wide open goals
as the striker blazed the ball over the bar from six yards
out.
Notts midfield started to get into the game after about
5 minutes into the game and helping the fragile defence.
Then Dicko picked up the in his own half and skip passed
one midfield then another just like in the final last year
and just before a defender tackled him he laid the ball
off to Marcus.
Marcus cut inside one defender and the ball caught the
defender but Marcus still kept control he was in the box
now and with his LEFT foot hit a hard low shot under the
diving keeper one all, Notts thirds cheered.
Soon after Old E's kicked off Dicko got him self injured
and subbed off and Stuart Stubbings came on.
Old E's applied the pressure and with in about five
minutes of Marcus scoring Notts was two one down.
With another break down the right wing the winger crossed
a delightful teasing ball into the box David got a hand
to it and Mitch took an age to clear this ball and a striker
came and nicked the ball pass Mitch into an empty net.
After that Notts missed chance after chance because we
could not head a ball into an empty net. Late in the second
half Notts got a goal disallowed because of an offside decision
from the ref.
