More missed chances prove costly again
The Club was feeling the effects of unavailability
of players for various reasons, resulting in losses by all
three teams. Notts welcome 'College' old boy Richard Powdrill
to the Club and the Manager is lining up a further signing
in order to strengthen his selection.
The second league game was against last years
Premier Division runners up and the team were warned of
the back lash after Notts defeated them on their own patch
last season.
OE's were unusually nervous and as on the previous
Saturday Notts started well. Dean Wilson's shot come cross
was met at the far post and prodded home by the unmarked
Marcus Hall.
Once again Notts were guilty of slack finishing
and again punished as Dave Edwards could only parry a point
black shot into the net. A poor clearance from Dave Edwards
resulted in him being chipped from 30 yards by an inch perfect
lob. Notts instead of leading after the lions share of the
first half, trailed at the interval.
An improvement was demanded but not achieved
after the break. Instead it was OE's who feeling boosted
by their lead who swept into a 1-4 lead. Dave Edwards beaten
by a free kick and edge of the area strike. Dean Wilson
did pull a goal back after the OE's keeper dropped a high
cross, however another good goal from OE's sealed Notts
fate.
A late penalty, converted by bean Wilson was
of little consequence to the outcome of the game.
This was the biggest goals against for some
time and with Lady Bay, Trent University and Nottsborough
in the AFA cup coming up, Notts need to have the players
available, improve their passing game and at this level
take the opportunities before the opposition do!
