| We Owe These
Big Time
We arrived at Hickling Park in Stapleford and everyone
was up for this game we went straight in the change rooms
and listen to Colin team talk and he said, "We owe
these big time". Also Colin said, "With this hard
ground you need to bring the ball down quickly because it
will always be at knee high". In an earlier fixture
we took it to easy and end up with a draw and one point
instead of all three point. So we got changed and warmed
up ready for the match, the pitch was hard and everyone
was relaxed and having a laugh.
The ref asked both keepers if they were ready and the game
began within 5 minutes Jay Culligan crossed it and Marcus
tried to bring it down only for a defender to block the
shot and Marcus swivelled again and shot only to see the
ball cleared off the line. After that the game started to
open up with Notts with all the chancier with bursting runs
from Jay Culligan, Atko, Ruddy and Marcus but, with no ending.
The Notts players started to argue amongst themselves because
they hadn't scored said Speno. Then a piece of magic from
Marcus opened the deadlock with a goal that can only be
described as a mangers dream. The ball got crossed over
and Marcus brought it down ran away from goal and turn back
inside and left one defender, then sweated another and another
on the touchline then look up and blasted the ball with
outside of his boot and curled it near post in between the
keeper and post 1-nil Notts, ref blew for halftime five
minutes later and the arguments stopped.
At halftime Colin said that he would have been happy if
we came in at nil, nil but, one nil is blessing. So lets
get out there and show them why we are second in the league
and stop arguing.
The second half kicked off and within about ten minutes
Rosey had scored another goal with is best touch of the
game. He flicked the ball over the big number 11 and then
juggled around with the ball by heading it, chesting it
and then volleying it from about 30 yards hard and low into
the bottom corner. The keeper stood no chance two nil Notts.
Notts were coasting now and Colin started to make subs by
bring Dicko on and even Dicko made an impact on the game
and nearly scored with his first touch. Soon after Willo
pick up the ball just outside Racing box and struck a hard
and low shot that deflected off a defender and sent the
keeper the wrong way 3 nil Notts and Colin added two more
subs Bloomy and Marco. After that Notts had chances to score
even more goals but did not take their chances, the ref
blew the final whistle.
