A Great Victory Well Deserved
After four defeats in the past two seasons Notts faced
one of the toughest games of their lives. Notts were facing
Cavaliers in the Senior Cup that they won last year beating
Lady Bay 1-0.
So to gee us up Colin Spencer drove around town getting
photos printed off with individual players holding the cup
in frames and gave them to the players before going out
to play.
The game kicked off and within about five minutes Marcus
had a chance to put Notts in the lead but got caught in
two minds to shoot or pass to Dean and in the end the ball
went out for a throw in.
The game was evenly matched and it was end to end stuff
but both defences were commanding their area very well,
halftime came and it was still 0-0.
Colin was happy with his team performance up to this point
and then 15 minutes into the second half Marcus snapped
and shouted at Colin, Colin brought Marcus off the pitch
and words were exchanged and kits were thrown.
Marcus stormed off the pitch and the game begun with Andy
Dickinson coming into midfield and Paul Atkinson going up
front with Dean. About 10 minutes later Cavaliers went one
nil up and Notts were chasing the game, but by this time
Cavaliers defence thought they had won the game and slacked
off and Dean passed the ball to Chris Westerby, who shot
just in side the box and made it 1-1.
The Game went into extra-time and Notts training really
showed. Cavaliers looked really tired and even brought a
ringer on but it still did not stop Notts getting the victory
they well deserved with some skill down the line from Andy
Dickinson and he whipped a delightful ball into the box
and Paul Atkinson running between two defenders and getting
the important touch to steer it pass the keeper into the
back of the empty net.
2-1, Notts Victorious.
