A load of balls
This tricky evening fixture against high riding Ashland
on their midden heap, could blunt Notts push for runners
up spot. To their credit the Notts players made the journey
to the back of beyond in good time to enjoy the luxurious
and spacious Ashland changing facilities. (Who was Adey
Wilsons boring bastard pal in black?).
After loosing the toss, Notts kicked down the slope with
a ball provided by Ashland which was so light it bounced
head height and ran down the hill so quick, Linford Christie
would not have been able to catch it.
Notts had to make the most of the advantage but only turned
around at half time with a 1-0 advantage thanks to a Dean
Wilson goal.
After the interval Notts set themselves to 'defend the
hill' only to notice the ball had mysteriously change to
an old, heavy half deflated leather bag which held up down
the slope. Notts protests where turned away by Adey's mate
as Ashland swept forward with new purpose.
Eventually Notts began to break loose and firstly a Jay
Culligan shot was deflected by an Ashland player into his
own net. Sorry Jay you cant claim that one. But you can
the third goal, a thunderous drive from inside the box as
Notts finished off a good evening's work.
With the game won, the manager was able to reward his travelling
subs, however Gazza Newton was unable show off his silky
skills because he was injured in the kick in.
