After the successful season Nottinghamshire F.C. enjoyed
in 2001/02, the club have made clear their intentions of
continuing to improve in terms of playing strength and results.
Last term, all three Notts teams finished in the top four
positions of their respective divisions in the
Midland Amateur Alliance and it is hoped that one (or more)
of our teams can go that little bit further and carry off
some silverware this season.
The first team squad is largely unchanged. Midfielder Martin
Swannell has moved away to Devon, to be nearer his girlfriend
(the fool!), but all the other players have re-signed and
there will inevitably some players who will be trying their
hardest to break into the first team squad which is bound
to keep the current players on their toes.
The position in the Second Team is much less clear with
several members of last years squad having moved on
to pastures new, there is the opportunity for existing third
teamers and players new to the club to progress quickly
through the ranks. The players who fill these positions
will be the hard working, dedicated ones who show enthusiasm,
dedication and effort both in matches and at training. They
will be players who obviously have ability, but talent without
commitment is something the club has little time for.
The third team squad will of course be dependant on who
finally makes the Twos squad, but the majority of the faces
from last season have indicated their willingness and enthusiasm
to re-sign and keep the Threes on their excellent end of
season run.
The team managers remain the same and the only major administrative
change is that of Nick Pitbull in Golden Boots
Dracott, who takes over as Club Secretary so if everything
starts to go wrong, well all know why!!
Training continues throughout August at our home ground,
Nottingham Bluecoat School, from 7 9 p.m. In September,
training moves to our regular Winter venue of Trinity School,
(under lights on the all weather surface) from 8
9:30 p.m.
Good luck to all our players for the forthcoming season
and a special welcome to anyone new to the club, soon your
names will appear in print in this publication!
107 years old and still going strong!!
