Christmas had been and gone, and we were up
for this one.
After only narrowly beating Tibshelf in October
4-3 when we dominated the game this time we really turned
them over. Although struggling in the league, a game against
Tibshelf is usually a fiery affair and real battle especially
in the middle of the park, but not this time.
Notts changed 8 out of the 11 who started against
Cavaliers with only Keenan Wilson, Neil Scott & Tony
Crofts keeping their places, in came John Colclough, David
Smith, Gary Newton and Paul Stevenson from the two's. Adey
Wilson from the first's. Also with Aaron, Nigel and Bob
all returning to complete the line up.
After a positive pre-match team talk we carried
on where we left off against Cavaliers, and went 1-0 up
when good work by Newt's sent Aaron down the left his strong
run into the box gave him time cross the ball in low for
Keenan to score 1-0 3 min's gone. 5minutes later it was
2-0 a Tibshelf attack was broken down just inside the Notts
half, Bob played the ball to Nigel down the left who squared
the ball to, Aaron and after brushing past a defender fired
home from 15 yard's 2-0.
Tibby offered very little threat up front and
what they did create attacking wise, was soon broken down.
For the rest of the second half Notts could have scored
several more Bob, Tony, Aaron all squandering good scoring
opportunities, but with Newt's playing the ball around in
the middle and Wolfe's tireless work rate upfront it did
seem only a matter of time.
On a disappointing note Tibshelf's goalkeeper
was taken to hospital with a leg injury after a challenge
with Keenan shortly before half time. The third did come
just before half time good work again by Wolfie down the
left played Nigel in and his shot bobbled under the substitute
keeper 3-0 at half time.
Now the hard work was done Notts played some good football
in the second half and could have had double figures including
a hat trick by Newton (if he could get his shots on target).
John was not stretched at all apart from dealing with a
couple of crosses and a few kick's had very little to do
(and was thinking about making a sand castle in the goalmouth).
Anyway Notts rapped it up with a Own goal following a long
throw-in Dave Smith's, Han was sent clean through by Aaron
to make it 5-0. A second own goal from another throw-in
(credit to D. Smith again).
The seventh was a fine individual effort by Han who skipped
past two defenders down the right, cut back inside before
firing past the keeper. 7-0 and a good Christmas present
for Bob after several poor performances over the previous
few weeks (memories of Jigsaw fading fast).
