Match Report

NOTTS MADE HARD WORK OUT OF IT

Well, the second game was away and people turn up late because they were in the bookies, phoning Speno in Majorca or Geordie giving them a lift. So Colin gave us a bollocking for training, manners and anything else he could think of. But as usual Colin told us the tactics and the team selection. We got changed, warmed up and got our heads on the game.

The game was about to begin, we were playing on Wollaton's first team pitch it was flat wide and quite small. The ref blew his whistle and the game started. Both Notts and Wollaton were evenly matched and ten minutes into the game both teams had their chances but Wollaton had to make a sub because one of their defenders had injured himself.

After a few comments from Marcus to the ref the ref had a quiet word. Minutes later Marcus scored 1-0 Notts. The ball was chipped thru from Atko and Marcus took one touch and buried the ball into the far corner with his left foot. Wollaton kicked off and the Notts midfield got the ball and laid it to Atko who pushed a ball thru to Marcus who turned on the ball inside the box and blasted the ball near post 2-0 Notts.

Notts were in command of the game and Wollaton kicked off again and by this time Marcus was running the Wollaton defence ragged crossing balls high and low eventually Notts got a corner. Willo hit the ball hard and low the Wollaton defender got there first and cleared it as far as Adey who drilled a shot from 30 yards only to see the keeper spill it and then catch it again. The keeper booted it up field and Wollaton managed to get a free kick. The Wollaton midfield hit the ball hard and low it deflected off Marcus' boot thru Mitch's legs and straight to there forward and he scored Dave had no chance appeals for offside were not given after the ref spoke to Geordie 2-1 Notts, ref blew for halftime.

Colin was still happy at this point and he said, "I would have been happy if we came in 1-0, 2-1 is still good and be careful in the first 15 minutes". The second half began and within five minutes they had scored 2-2. The ball bounced awkwardly in front of Mitch and the attacker was first to the loose ball and blasted it in between Dave's legs MEGS.

Notts kick off and got straight back to business looking for another goal and they got it 10 minutes later after the newly promoted Richard Shaw jinked is way into the box and got a penalty. Willo stepped up and buried it into the bottom right hand corner and the keeper dived the wrong way 3-2 Notts.

Colin made two subs taking off Dicko and Atko and putting on Jay and John. Wollaton kicked off and they were still trying to get some think out of the game Marcus and Willo was trying hard to score another but the Wollaton keeper was stopping everything. Wollaton went on a counter attack but Dave got the ball and took a quick kick out of his hands and the Wollaton defender blatantly handled the ball in his own box but the ref gave a free kick until he asked there lineman who said it was a penalty. Willo let Marcus step up to get his hat trick and Marcus buried into the bottom left corner 4-2 Notts.

Wollaton made a sub and immediately he made an impact on the game. He left Ruddy enough times and eventually got a penalty from whacking the ball onto his own hand but the ref thought it came off Rudd's. Wollaton slotted the penalty home 4-3 Notts and that's how it ended.
