It was County Cup day and everyone was bubbly
and happy and ready for the challenge. Colin was looking
forward to the challenge seeing how Notts had just applied
for a place in Notts Alliance next season and his lads did
proud.
The game kick off and within ten minutes Willo had stroked
the ball pass the keeper and into the back of the net one
nil Notts. After that Notts rushed Forest Town and was unlucky
to go in just one nil up at half time.
The Second half was pretty much the same until the Referee
gave a ridiculous penalty for Mitch's chest in the box that
only the ref saw it hit Mitch's hand. No one on the pitch
or on the sideline appealed for the penalty but the ref
put the ball on the spot. Forest Town scored at that how
it ended after fulltime.
Into extra time and Colin said we need to win it now because
we always lose on penalties so Notts turned on the heat.
Within ten minutes Ruddy had scored a diving head. Marcus
had skipped pass a player on the wing and whipped a ball
in that Ruddy flicked on and Willo shot. The keeper parried
and watched Ruddy fly thru the air and put the ball into
the back of the net 2 - 1 Notts. In the second half of extra
time Notts got a third thru some silk skill from Marcus
who crossed it to Willo on the edge of the box who took
one touch and curled it into the right hand bottom corner
of the goal and the unsighted just stood and watched 3 -
1 Notts and into the next round.
