Nottinghamshire 1st XI went out of the County Cup in a closely fought cup tie against NSL First Division Awsworth Villa.

In a first half that saw the two teams largely cancel each other out, the visitors had the best of the opportunities and Harvey was the busier of the two keepers.

In the second period Villa eventually took the lead only for that to be cancelled out by a strike from substitute Mark Greensmith.

Notts had a goal disallowed on the stroke of 90 minutes, a goal that would have seen them through, but the visitors survived and went ahead in controversial fashion as a long throw was adjudged to have been touched by someone before it went into the net.

Villa clinched victory with a third goal late on and they progress into the last 16.
