Nottinghamshire FC made it three wins in their first three league games with a laboured and unimpressive win over bottom of the table Bottesford.
Notts began the game very brightly and threatened to over run their opponents as they dominated possession but they struggled to move the ball at times and their play lacked fluency.
The green and whites took the lead after 10 minutes as Daryl Rose made it three goals in as many games as he clipped home into ther corner, the keeper's despairing dive not being enough to keep the ball out.
Bottesford drew level only five minutes later as Gary Mann scored the first of his two goals as he broke free down Notts right flank and slid the ball past Harvey in goal.
The lead was regained fairly quickly. Shaun Groves found himself with time and space in the penalty area and fired home comfortably.
The remainder of the half saw Notts create some promising opportunities and lots of pressure from free kicks and corners, but little quality in front of goal.
The second half saw the home side become more and more frustrated as they wasted chance after chance. Groves, Atkinson, Martin and Johnson all had good opportunities, but failed to find the target and it was no suprise that the visitors made Notts pay for their wastefulness as Mann was allowed time and space to draw his team level.
The game was settled in the last 15 minutes with the introduction of substitute Mark Greensmith. First he ignored Bottesford calls for an offside flag and strode forward to give Notts the lead then he headed home a Johnson flick from a Rose long throw.
Another three points, but Notts will have to play a whole lot better if they want to stay at the top of the table! |
