Nottinghamshire FC made it four wins in four starts in this midweek encounter at a wet and windy Grassington Road.
The visitors, who are a talented young side, began the game very brightly and it soon became obvious that they had several players of pace and skill as they gave the Notts back four some anxious early moments.
However, somewhat against the run of play, Notts took the lead with their first real attack. A deep free kick from full back Steven O'Neill was attacked by Daryl Rose and his prodigious leap beat the keeper to the ball and glanced the ball home.
The goal settled Notts and they began to play some good football. A second was soon to arrive from a delightful move that eventually saw Johnson split open the visitors defence with a slide rule pass and Rose swept home his second into the top corner.
A third followed on the half hour mark as a Wood corner was headed firmly home by Johnson.
The visitors were obviously deflated by the goal rush, but they continued to play some good football and Harvey had to be alert to twice block their shots on goal.
The second half saw substitute McNeil gifted a goal after just 2 minutes. A defender miscontrolled allowing Stuart time to pick his spot and kill any possible revival.
Notts coped much better with the the visitors pace in the second period and continued to pose problems of their own at the other end.
A fifth goal came with just a few minutes remaining. Sub Andy Dickinson's pass nutmegged a defender and Rosey was able to fire home to complete an excellent hat trick. |
