It was inevitable that Nottinghamshire FC's 100% record in the NSL would go at some time, and so it proved in this league fixture against Vernon Villa.

Notts had won against the same opposition in the County Cup the previous Saturday. The Notts side were perhaps fortunate to progress in the cup game, but hereNotts were unlucky not to take all three points.

The green and whites played some good football in the opening half and went two goals to the good through Lewis Atkinson and top scorer Daryl Rose.

A mistake at the back allowed Villa to get a foothold in the game and Notts were to rue their missed chances as the home side grabbed a point in the second half.
