Notts needed to get their season back on track with a win against relative unknowns Whitemoor Utd. United started quickly using their best asset – pace, to good effect. Notts battled hard to counter the quick football from the visitors. Whitemoor were well drilled and took quick free kicks to try and catch Notts off guard, something Manager Kalia had warned the players of before the game.
The game was fairly even in the first half, Notts made 2 or three good moves but just couldn’t get settled. You felt that if they would slow down and not panic, fluent football should follow.
The second half was much the same. Notts started the brighter and actually seemed to be playing football! Mott at sweeper excellently marshalling a solid back line. Utd often played a predictable ball over the top towards their pacey front men, which more often than not Gajree was able to deal with.
Unfortunately Utd scored when one of the through-balls wasn’t dealt with and you could see the relief for the visitors.
Dyce came on for Shakespeare, a straight swap at left wing-back. Rose came on for Dosanjh and went up front to make it a 3-4-3 formation. However the equaliser didn’t look like coming and the result was disappointing for Notts. Although there was a lot of work rate most Notts players underperformed and didn’t produce the quality in this match.
