With the semi-professional defending Champions absent and unable to defend the trophy they had won for the past two years, this was a great opportunity for the Notts invitation side to claim a trophy against some fairly weak opposition. Notts were up against a team of over age teachers from Bluecoat, including the fanzine editor (see what I mean by weak?), a team of old boys from the school fronted by ex Notts player, now RAF fireman, Gordon Brailsford and a team of sixth formers who were so hurriedly assembled that one of them didn’t have any shorts and had to wear jeans!
Although Notts saw off the staff 1-0 and held the Old Boys to a 2-2 draw, they crashed out of the tournament following a humiliating 1-4 reverse to the 17 year olds who walked off with the trophy for the first time in the five years the tournament has been run.

Notts have only won this tournament ONCE!
