We discovered the delights of Ziggys bar and Nick and I had a farewell
beer or two before his departure and reflected upon our travels.
I managed to somehow lose my bank card which forced me into various
phone calls home and a trip to the bank in Singaraja which was quite
an experience. It took me an hour to get some money out on my credit
card and they kept calling me Mario for some reason!
We went to Tulamben where we all dived the wreck of a US Cargo
ship Liberty. This was sunk by the Japanese during the war, beached
at Tulamben but pushed back into the sea by lava from the volcano
eruption in 1963. We stayed at a nice friendly place and Davey entertained
the locals with his Michael Flatley impression by the pool until
he volleyed one of their china teapots into the swimming pool!
Next stop was Candidasa which was OK but a bit like a ghost town
so we moved to Ubud which is the arts and crafts capital of Bali.
There's some great stuff here if you like wood carvings, jewellery
and sarongs and the locals are always asking you if you need transport.
We went to a Balinese dance which was very colourful and entertaining,
paricularly when one of the dancers stopped and offered the audience
transport at a special cheap price!
That's it so far for Bali. Dave and Laura have moved on to
Thailand and I'm all alone here with a nasty dose of ' Bali Belly!'
so you see, its not all Bagus after all!

Rich.
